( CARBO = Carbon, HYDRATE = Water )
It is a group of organic compounds having carbon, oxygen and hydrogen, in which hydrogen and oxygen are mostly found in the same ratio as in water i.e 2:1 and are thus called hydrated carbons.
Carbohydrates are found to occur in all living cells both as building material and as storage substances. They are found about 1% weight and generally celled sugar or saccharides due to their taste except polysaccharides.
The carbohydrate can classified into following groups on the basis of number of monomers. These are Mono saccharides, Oligosaccharide and Ploysaccharides.
